Education & Experience:

  • Previous teaching experience in Finland and/or a Finnish-type school with specialization/experience in elementary education development and instruction.
  • Previous experience working in a dynamic educational environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • Experience in inclusive education is an advantage.
  • Good command of the English language (oral and written).
  • Good command of teaching methodologies used in the Finnish context.

Position Overview:

As an accomplished elementary classroom teacher, you will specialize in delivering engaging, student-centered instruction for students aged 6-11. By focusing on co-planning and co-teaching, you will actively create an inclusive, dynamic learning environment that meets students' diverse needs.

This role is vital to shaping the school's culture, nurturing a love for learning, and implementing innovative practices grounded in internationally recognized methodologies, including the Finnish approach and the Cambridge International Curriculum. In addition to classroom instruction, you will collaborate with colleagues, students, and parents to ensure personalized academic and social growth.

As a key school community member, you will play an active role in implementing child protection measures, ensuring every student's safety and holistic development. Your commitment to maintaining a secure and nurturing environment supports the school’s mission and vision.

Responsibilities:

Classroom Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily classroom teaching activities and participate in planning instructional practices that best support student learning.
  • Work closely with students, parents, and colleagues to develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), ensuring understanding, agreement, and support of all stakeholders.
  • Act as an active learning community member and participate in assessing and developing it.
  • Regularly evaluate student progress using research-based formative and summative assessment practices.
  • Participate in classroom activities conducted by other teachers.

General Responsibilities:

  • Communicate students' everyday activities and progress to parents.
  • Actively seek to improve your craft as a teaching professional.
  • Follow established policies and school guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of content, instructional strategies, and student development.
  • Create and maintain a respectful and positive learning environment.
  • Participate in co-curricular and extracurricular school activities.

The School is intended for students from K1 to S6, corresponding to a range between 3 to 17 years of age. In the first year of operation, 2023-24, the School will begin by offering Kindergarten and Primary education, with the opening of the Secondary levels scheduled for the following year(s).
