We are opening two new classes. One is for children aged 1-3yrs, and another is for 3 - 4yrs old.

You will be joining our highly professional team of experienced teachers taking care of small groups of children. For 1 - 3 yr old students, you will have a maximum of 6 students. For 3-4 yr students, the maximum is eight students per class.

We have a fun curriculum in place. You will have some freedom to tweak the program for your students as you see the need or wish to do. Our curriculum is pre-packaged, so teachers do not need to hunt down all the things that go into making nice crafts. The monthly theme with books and materials is planned and supported by an outside company. Teachers take time before the new month starts to review the next month's plans.

Our Preschool students speak English within months of starting if that is not their home language. ESL students are at their grade level within two years of starting with us. All our Japanese students are Japanese/English bilingual.

Our Grade 3 – 11 students take the Stanford Standardized test every March at the end of their academic year. This year,  47% of students had above-average scores for their grade level. Our most recent High School class’ average SAT score was 1340, with a GPA of 3.89 on a 4.0 scale.

The Griggs program that we are affiliated with also boasts excellent success. 60% of the graduating class goes to the best 50 universities in the world.

The low student-to-teacher ratio of 1 teacher to 8 students at Axis International facilitates a personal interaction that fosters academic growth, critical thinking skills, and character development.

The purpose of Axis International school is to provide a good education to any child that would like to have an international education, and who shows an ability for it. In 2003 it was very difficult for a Japanese student to get into a good international school.

On the west side of Tokyo, choices were even more limited and it was felt that it would be possible to start a new school in the Kichijoji area.

We chose to use the program of Home Study International – a program created for children of missionaries of the Seventh-Day Adventist church. They had over one hundred years of experience. We had no intention of re-inventing the wheel so we used their program at the beginning.

Bible is one of the core subjects of the curriculum and is an integral part of establishing a values based curriculum. Teaching the Bible also trains children in having to make choices between good and bad. As they become older, they need to think about the questions of life. These questions have an important impact on our life and without touching on these, any education is incomplete.

To allow for effective interaction between the teacher and the students, and in order to pursue a truly holistic approach, we have adopted a maximum ratio of one teacher for eight students. This ensures that each teacher and student can interact on a daily basis as needed.
