The complex government regulations are:
Candidates for the TEACH Fellowship Program in Taiwan should have a strong interest in Taiwan or career teaching, particularly teaching English to speakers of other languages.
- Citizen (as shown on the passport) of one of the following countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand.
- Education (Degrees must be from a university recognized by Taiwan# and received before arrival in Taiwan.)
- Master’s degree or above, or
- Bachelor’s degree and two years* total of general work experience
Teaching:
- State teaching license in any subject, or
- One year* total of teaching experience at K-12 schools, plus
- Degree in education, English, or related field with 120+hours of related coursework or
- TESOL, TEFL, and CELTA certificates approved by an accredited university. Distance learning cannot exceed 2/3 of the course hours.

* From your resume, AICEE can do an initial evaluation of general work and/or teaching experience to determine what qualifies toward the total time required. Ministries of Labor and Education make the final determination.

˙ Applicants with teaching licenses or certificates are preferred, and retired teachers are eligible.
- Monthly stipend: ranging from $2,000 to a limited number at $2,800 depending on level of experience and public or private placement. This is comparable to native English teachers’ or Assistant professors' salaries in Taiwan in public or private institutions. For additional details, please visit the FAQ section.
- Flight Reimbursement: a maximum reimbursement for the single/return trips of the flight tickets is capped at NT$40,000 (approx. US$1,290*) for each trip, based on the actual amount spent as shown by receipts.
- Insurance: health, medical, and accident insurance are provided.
- Cross-Cultural Activities: educational visits, lectures, and other activities are provided.
- Housing: AICEE assists recipients in finding housing in Taiwan upon request. Rent is included in the monthly stipend.
- Visa: AICEE provides visa instructions.
- Airport pick-up: AICEE arranges airport pick-up upon arrival in Taiwan upon request.
- Administrative Support: AICEE will assist with pre-arrival preparations and consultations, provide guidance for adapting to life in Taiwan, and act as a communication bridge between you and the schools.
*Exchange rates are calculated based on the date of purchase. Reimbursement is on arrival in Taiwan.
The TEACH Fellowship was launched in Taiwan in 2023 by the Taipei City Government and the Association of International Cultural and Educational Exchange Taiwan (AICEE). TEACH Fellowship invites enthusiastic educators to teach in K-12 schools in Taiwan to create an immersed bilingual and cultural learning environment for Taiwanese students and to enhance artistic and educational exchanges between Taiwan and the world. Teachers from the following countries are eligible: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand.
The program objectives are to:
- Create an English language and cultural environment to enhance elementary and secondary students' English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Taiwan.
- Develop innovative English language curriculum and effective teaching methods through collaboration between native English speaking and Taiwanese educators.
- Promote cross-cultural exchange and mutual understanding while enhancing multicultural competency of teachers and local residents.
