You must be either an American or Canadian citizen, and you must have at least five years of Principal experience. It is also preferred that the successful candidate have experience with living and working in Egypt already.

School Requirements:

  • Education Required: Master's of Education, preferably in Educational Administration or Educational Leadership
  • Minimum Teaching Experience: 8 years of teaching experience and five years of Senior Leadership experience, preferably in the role of Principal
  • Required Certificates: Teaching Credential/License
  • Work Visa Eligibility: United States (USA), Canada 
  • Eligible Candidates: Licensed Principal

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or higher with 8 years experience in the field of education, which includes 8 years of teaching experience in an American Curriculum setting AND either 2 years as a Vice Principal or 3 years as Principal
  • Teaching license from home country/province/stage
  • Must have completed a supervised practicum while earning Education Qualification
  • Strong knowledge and experience in American Common Core Standards, student-centered learning, standards-based grading and reporting principles, developing critical thinking skills in students, inquiry-based learning, and problem-solving.
  • Proficient in the use of technology in the classroom.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Collaborative leader with high emotional intelligence.
  • Passionate about teaching and committed to providing high-quality education to students.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience with English Language Learners is preferable.

Maplewood is partnering with Egyptian educational officials and is looking to appoint an American or Canadian educator as its Founding Principal.

  • Contract Length: 3 years
  • Number of Vacancies: 1
  • Student Level: Pre-KG to Grade 3 (initial year and growing each year thereafter)

We are looking to appoint a dynamic, ambitious, and experienced Founding School Principal in Cairo, Egypt, who can inspire and motivate our students! Maplewood is partnering with educational officials in Egypt and is looking for a dedicated educational leader to join us on our continuous journey towards excellence by raising standards, improving outcomes for all learners, and delivering the St. Anthony School's core student values, which are centered around:

This highly motivated educator will lead our Pre-KG to Grade 3 school as a forward-thinking practitioner who is keen to ensure all students achieve to the best of their ability in an enjoyable classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to the school community, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation. The successful candidate must be either American or Canadian and possess a proven track record of educational leadership experience.
  • Ensure the school's compliance with all regulatory requirements set forth by Egyptian Ministry of Education officials, including but not limited to curriculum implementation, assessment, reporting, and accreditation.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan and school development plan for the school that aligns with the St. Anthony core purpose and reflects the school's mission and vision.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement innovative teaching and learning practices that engage and challenge students and promote the development of 21st-century skills.
  • Foster a positive school climate that promotes inclusivity, respect, and diversity and supports the social and emotional well-being of all staff and students.
  • Work closely with parents, stakeholders, and other partners to develop effective communication and collaboration strategies that support student learning and achievement.
  • Manage the school's budget and resources effectively, ensuring that resources are allocated in a way that supports the school's strategic goals and priorities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth among staff, supporting and encouraging ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure that all lessons are planned and delivered to align with the American Common Core Standards using student-centered teaching practices that support the development of critical thinking skills.
  • Ensure that standards-based grading and reporting principles are effectively implemented to provide accurate and meaningful feedback to students and parents.
  • Support teachers in utilizing inquiry-based learning and problem-solving strategies to engage students and enhance their understanding of scientific concepts.
  • Led the School Improvement Team to ensure success in all external inspections and evaluations, including Cognia.
  • Provide professional development opportunities to support staff in staying up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in teaching.
