Main Responsibilities of the Vice Principal
The Vice Principal assists the School Principal to make sure that teachers drive high quality of teaching and learning for the school, which includes the responsibility of implementing and improving the teaching plans and practices while delivering the school curriculum content to achieve the school-wide learning outcomes as well as the AP Program. To do so, the Vice Principal analyzes achievement data, including external test results and internal assessment results, teaching observations, teacher feedback, as well as parent and student feedback and surveys to determine areas for improvement of the program. The VP leads designated steering committees for Domain C and D related to curriculum and teaching and learning or other areas of school to achieve international accreditation with WASC and CIS.
The details of job responsibilities are:
- Curriculum and Instructional Management
- Develop an academic plan to achieve high-quality teaching and learning (HQTL) of the international program that fits with the school context and student needs.
- Lead the execution of the academic plan and make ongoing adjustments with faculty members to achieve the set goals.
- Led curriculum review horizontal and vertical alignment across secondary program to increase academic rigor by the school-wide learning outcomes.
- Ensure the implementation of school curriculum content determined by the school board.
- Ensure teaching planning and practices meet the school definition of HQTL.
- Ensure teaching staff conduct is ethical and modeling the learning environment that thrives for excellence, values good morality, fairness and positive support to all learners.
- Lead and support teachers in teaching pedagogy to raise student academic achievements in school and in international tests such as NWEA MAP, IELTS, SAT, and AP.
- Lead and support teachers in reinforcement of positive classroom management.
- Report about program achievement, challenges, and recommendations to overcome the challenges to the school leadership team monthly.
- Participate in report writing and leading steering committee for international accreditations.
- Serve as teacher’s line management if appointed by the school director in the absence of the head of curriculum/ school principal.
- Serve as fill-in as teacher temporary in case of emergency needs of staffing.
- Fulfill other tasks that drive high quality of teaching and learning of the school.
- Lead and support teachers in teaching to align with the school curriculum as well as the AP program
2. Student Counseling and Academic Club Management
- Lead and monitor student support program and monitor student progress toward NWEA MAP.
- Lead and monitor academic clubs to cater to student interests and advance their 4C of 21st-century skills.
- Provide counseling to students
- Source international competitions, summer programs, or partnerships abroad to enrich students' learning experience.
3. Personnel Management
- Lead and model the school culture that thrives for excellence and values good morality, respect, trust, openness and collaboration, and innovative solutions.
- Ensure the working environment is positive and supportive for all staff.
- Conduct teaching formal staff evaluation and walkthrough observations.
- Provide formal and informal feedback for improvement to teaching staff to ensure the implementation of HQTL and the delivery of a positive learning environment to all learners at all times.
- Ensure the teaching staff under the line management work in compliance with school policies and employee code of conduct.
- Address staff compliance by staff disciplinary policy promptly for resolution.
- Provide new teacher orientation and ongoing support to teachers in their day-to-day at school.
- Participate in the interview of international teachers when requested by the school director.

4. Administrative Management
- Maintained academic records such as exam papers and student grades in compliance with the Ministry requirements and school requirements.
- Coordinate with teacher to ensure having good record of teaching planning, reports, student support plan in school drives and school management system.
- Participate and assist with safety inspections and emergency drills.
5. Community Relations
- Meet with parents or students to resolve student academic or other concerns if needed.
- Conduct workshops or seminars for parents and/or students per the school director's request.
- Contribute to write short captions or articles to promote the school programs and learning activities for the Marketing Team.
- Represent and participate in school events or in the media to promote school standards, programs, and learning activities.
