AISB is recruiting an Upper Elementary Teacher (specifically G4/5) with strong classroom management skills, a strong literacy and numeracy background for this age level, the ability differentiate to meet all student needs, have a standards-based assessing and reporting background, be able to use an concept-based integrated teaching approach, and have an ability to collaborate and work on a team with other elementary teachers. The candidate should have experience working with children who are learning English.
The position is full time in a self contained classroom and it is a multi-grade class (G4 and G5). In addition to teaching literacy, numeracy, science and social studies, the candidate is expected to conduct, with his or her class, a community-based engagement project spanning the entire school year, conduct an advisory class one hour each week, and teach one after school activity (1 hour after school each week).

Campus
AISB’s new campus opened in 2011 and is set on 5 hectares overlooking the beautiful Niger River. Our bright, inviting classrooms surround courtyard gardens. The campus outdoor areas include landscaped grounds with playground equipment, two swimming pools, gardens, covered areas, a soon-to-be-covered ball court, and athletics fields.
Our Elementary wing is composed of spacious classrooms, play, and garden spaces. The Secondary wing comprises classrooms, a science lab, a workout room, and student lounge, and study areas. The Arts wing includes two computer labs, the library, a maker space, our performing and visual arts facilities, a large events terrace overlooking the river, and a catering kitchen for lunch service.
The campus offers wireless Internet access throughout.
