Expected Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology
  • IELTS min requirement 7.5

Desirable:

  • 2-3 years experience in American curriculum
  • IELTS min requirement of 7.5
  • Possession of a functional understanding of the Arabic language to facilitate effective communication with various stakeholders, contributing to a multicultural and inclusive educational setting.
  • Previous experience in engaging and collaborating with Emirati families, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and a proactive approach to fostering positive relationships within the local community.

The purpose of “School Psychologist” is to assess students’ intellectual and mental functional levels. Their principal job is to look after students’ mental health and to help them overcome a range of behavioral challenges by providing information for program development and student placement; developing behavior plans, and providing information on child development and/or issues on specific students to instructional personnel. They design and implement interventions for a wide spectrum of difficulties children may face, in collaboration with educational staff.

Description:

  • Design mental-health intervention and prevention programs. Implement counseling and educational methods (e.g. breathing or mental imagery techniques)
  • Assess students’ functional capabilities and home and/or classroom environment to determine student’s functional level and develop recommendations and/or placement.
  • Counsel students, parents, and guardians to enhance student success in school.
  • Facilitate meetings (e.g. IEP conferences, parent meetings, in-services, etc.) to develop plans and/or provide information regarding student’s functional goals.
  • Set up interventions in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students to assist students in modifying such behavior and developing successful interpersonal skills.
  • Prepare documentation (e.g. evaluations, observations, progress, contacts with parents, teachers, and outside professionals, etc.) to provide written support, develop recommendations, and/or convey information
  • Evaluating and counseling high-risk students
  • Research resources and methods (i.e. intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) to determine appropriate approaches for addressing students’ specific needs.
