Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • IB Knowledge: Familiar with IB curriculum and standards, integrating them into art instruction.
  • Digital Skills: Proficient in video/audio editing tools and interactive learning platforms.
  • Advanced English: High proficiency in English for clear communication and instruction.
  • Secondary Teaching Experience: Experienced in teaching performing arts at the middle or high school level.
  • Teaching Certification: Certified in performing arts or a related subject.

  • Vacation bonus. Payment is equivalent to 25% of 12 vacation days at the end of every working year.
  • Housing at ASFC Staff Residencies (furnished apartment, Water, and WIFI are included, equivalent to MXN 9,000)
  • 100% Scholarship for all dependent children, as long they pass admission tests. (Scholarship does not cover institutional fees, school uniforms, books, supplies, and PTA charges)
  • Salary: MXN monthly before tax.

General Objective Of The Position:

To encourage young children's learning, promote oral and written language development, support their physical, emotional, communicative, social, and cognitive development, and identify students' skills, abilities, interests, and needs for their holistic development.

Subject: Music 

The person who holds the position must comply with the following responsibilities:

  • Complete weekly planning and turn it in every Thursday.
  • Collaboratively plan the IB unit of inquiry
  • Complete the My Educare course assigned monthly.
  • Monitor and document students’ learning
  • Adapt curriculum content and strategies for all students in the class
  • Prepare for observation and/or monitoring visits
  • Know and implement the ASFC program of inquiry and writing curriculum
  • Know ASFC policies (Linguistic, Inclusion, Assessment, Anti-Bullying, Academic Integrity, Child Protection and Admissions)
  • Know and implement the learning philosophy through the play of the IB program
  • Foster a culture of Respect, tolerance, equity, empathy, and cooperation.
  • Create a learning culture that supports the mission, vision, and philosophy. 

Activities: 

Daily:

  • Greet students at the classroom door with a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Begin each class with a brief morning routine or musical warm-up.
  • Ensure students are ready for the next class (line up, gather materials like instruments, sheet music, etc.).
  • Observe students during recess, entrance, and dismissal times to monitor their well-being.
  • Check students’ agendas for any updates or important notes.
  • Implement the IB philosophy of learning through play, integrating music and movement activities when appropriate.
  • Check institutional email for updates and communications.

Weekly:

  • Send weekly lesson plans to the administration promptly.
  • Provide a summary of weekly activities (including key musical concepts, performances, or practices) to parents via the digital platform.
  • Attend all IB planning meetings to align your teaching with the program’s objectives.
  • Submit material requests (for instruments, resources, or sheet music) at least one week in advance.
  • Access the MY IB platform regularly to stay up-to-date with the program’s expectations and updates.

Monthly:

  • Attend CTE (Collaborative Team of Educators) meetings as scheduled.
  • Complete any professional development courses or workshops on the "My Educare" platform.
  • Finalize and submit unit planners on time for music-related lessons.
  • Update classroom decorations to align with the PYP Checklist, showcasing musical elements and student work.
  • Create the assigned bulletin board with music-related themes and in line with the PYP Checklist guidelines.

Quarterly:

  • Prepare and submit qualitative assessments of student progress through the digital platform (e.g., music skills, performances, participation).
  • Submit evidence and reflections in the teacher portfolio, highlighting growth and key moments in your music teaching practice.

Yearly:

  • Prepare for and attend teacher-led conferences twice a year to discuss students’ progress in music education with parents.
  • Plan, organize, and lead academic and social events related to music, such as recitals, concerts, or music-themed school festivals (e.g., Academic Fair, Winterfest, Spring Fest).

Eventual:

  • Participate in school-wide drills and civil protection activities, following the role assigned.
  • Offer support during ASFC events, contributing as a music-related volunteer or in another capacity.
  • Report any cases of bullying to the Lower School Management, especially if it affects students’ well-being in the music classroom.
  • Oversee psychological support for students, particularly if there are any concerns relating to their emotional engagement with music or performance.
  • Attend and request meetings with parents when needed, particularly if there are concerns about student progress or behavior in music class.
  • Notify parents promptly in the event of an accident or incident involving a student, particularly during music-related activities.
