This position requires bilingual ability: Chinese & English
Subjects to teach: Chinese History and Research for High School students
Reporting to: The Social Science Department Chair.
Specific duties include:
- Work to develop a rigorous and aligned Chinese History curriculum focused on skills of development and processes, sourcing and situation, claims and evidence, contextualization, making connections, and argumentation.
- Revise, in collaboration with others, the syllabus for Chinese History courses
- Implement student-centered lesson plans aligned with daily learning objectives and AP standards to engage students in the learning process actively
- Integrate English language acquisition into daily lessons Integrate rigorous and targeted formative and summative assessment as well as daily checks for understanding
- Continuously monitor and evaluate student performance data to identify areas for improvement and develop action steps to enhance student learning outcomes
- Provide differentiated and scaffolded lessons that meet the learning needs of all students
- Provide specific, actionable feedback promptly in response to student work
- Creation and revision of all internal assessments in conjunction with teacher cohort
- Serve as a resource for colleagues in all departments who seek guidance about best research practices;
- Active participation in regular meetings of fellow history teachers to ensure consistent and complete execution of the curriculum as well as consistency in grading practices.
- Actively participate in departmental meetings, professional development workshops, and school activities
- Engage in ongoing professional growth and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AP History Education
- Work in close collaboration with the Social Science Department Chair to ensure alignment with non-history courses
- Teaching and ensuring that high standards of academic integrity are maintained
