Bloomsbury International School Hatyai seeks a caring, diligent, and enthusiastic teacher to join our team for the next academic year. We are delighted to add a third specialist to our successful science team to teach IGCSE and Level Biology and the Biology modules of Cambridge Lower Secondary Science. Early application is advised; interviews will be scheduled for suitable candidates on a rolling basis, and we may appoint before the closing date.

Job starts: Immediately

Location: Hatyai, Thailand.

Contract Type: Full Time

Contract Term: To July 2026, with a further 2-year contract extension available thereafter.

Located in the city of Hatyai in southern Thailand, Bloomsbury International School Hatyai is a co-educational International Independent School. Bloomsbury was founded in 2014 and offers a British-style curriculum to both day and boarding students. Our Secondary School is small, with around 80 students, but this is expanding every week due to our growing reputation. We are a caring, kind team, committed to every student achieving their very best. The students here universally want to do well, and all interactions are based upon obvious respect.

We have received our full accreditation from CIS, one of only 20 schools in Thailand to achieve this accolade.

The Position:

The Secondary department, and science in particular, has gained a reputation for excellence within the local community, and we wish the new teacher to develop that good practice still further. We have a dedicated science lab that is used for both Biology and Chemistry lessons. We follow the Cambridge International Curriculum. We offer IGCSEs, AS Levels, and A Levels. Our results are truly excellent; we have a 100% pass rate in all three sciences. Pupils from Year 5 upwards bring their devices to school, and we fully embed Technology for Learning. One main role is to develop the understanding of English in every lesson, as the vast majority of our students speak English as an additional language, whilst ensuring we deliver content to enable students to gain great qualifications.

Our pupils thrive here. This is a happy, hardworking school. Pupils treat adults with admiration and respect. Teaching here is a joy, but it is expected that you will uphold our high standards for students' well-being, as well as promote academic excellence.

As a small school, all our staff need to be an integral part of the team. Our teachers and support staff are incredibly hardworking, dedicated, and kind.

Key Information:

All international staff are expected to be completely fluent in English and be skilled in the use of technology for education. They are expected to take a full part in the school community, working with pupils in extra-curricular activities.

Location:

Hatyai is located in southern Thailand, only 40 minutes drive from the nearest beach in Songkhla Town and within easy reach of Krabi, Phuket, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Koh Samui, and Koh Lipe, as well as Penang, and Langkawi across the border in Malaysia. The international airport offers 16 flights per day to Bangkok and daily flights to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, both of which are only a short distance away, opening up the rest of Asia. It is easy to spend your weekends or holidays exploring this beautiful part of the world.

Hatyai itself is an up-and-coming city without the high cost of living found in other more well-known destinations in Thailand. There are large western-style malls and supermarkets, and many bars and restaurants providing a range of international food, yet Hatyai retains a very 'Thai' feel, and the population is very friendly and helpful, welcoming people with the famous 'Thai Smile.'

Bloomsbury International School Hatyai is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people in our care and requires all applicants to share this commitment.
