Teach Away Partners with The Hong Kong Education Bureau to Recruit North American Teachers to teach English in the 2017 school year

Applications are now open to for teachers looking to teach English in Hong Kong, with interview sessions in New York scheduled for February and March 2017.

Working with the Hong Kong Education Bureau, Teach Away is currently seeking applications from English language teachers to join the popular Native-speaking English Teacher (NET) Scheme at public schools across Hong Kong for a start date of August 2017

Teach Away is looking to fill a large number of open teaching positions across Hong Kong's 1,000+ public schools. Successful candidates will be teaching students in primary and secondary public schools with the aim of strengthening English language learning and teaching in Hong Kong and assisting with teaching and curriculum development. Along with Chinese, English is one of Hong Kong’s two official languages and the NET Scheme has been an integral part of the public Hong Kong education system ever since its implementation in 1998.

Candidate requirements for NET teaching positions are as follows:

PNET (Primary Native Speaking English Teacher) requirements

• Teaching license
• Bachelor’s degree in English
• TEFL/TESL certificate

SNET (Secondary Native Speaking English Teacher) requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English or Education (with English major)
• Postgraduate or Master’s degree in Education
• TEFL/TESL certificate
• One year of English teaching experience at secondary (high-school) level

Upcoming interviews (attendance is by invitation only) will be taking place in New York, starting February 27 - March 3, 2017 (tentative dates only). Teachers can now apply to attend online via the Teach Away website.
