Activities Director - Aug 2025

We at GEMS International School, Al Khail are looking for an experienced Athletics Director to join our team for the Academic Year commencing August 2025.

Job Purpose:

To plan, organize, budget, and supervise the operation of extra-curricular programs and activities at GIS to provide a quality program that responds to the needs of the GIS community thus contributing to the competitive quality of GIS and the positive image within the UAE. 

Job Description includes but is not limited to: 

Sports/Athletics:

• Coaches - Determine requirements, collaborate with ESM, take part in the hiring process when requested, evaluate and support athletics coaches to ensure they meet the athletics requirements and to ensure optimal execution of the athletics program and maximal competitiveness of the teams.  
• Scheduling of practices and games-Schedule and update all practices for all teams to ensure synergies across all teams as well as optimal use of the available facilities.  
• Transportation -Budget, plan, organize, and supervise all transportation (including STS) and accommodation of athletics teams during off-campus competitions and other trips to ensure cost-effective, efficient, and safe transportation and accommodation. 
• Competitions -Organize home competitions and international tournaments to ensure they are run effectively and to promote and maintain competitive quality.
• Order and manage sports uniforms/kits to represent the school  
• Safety procedures - In close co-operation with the MSO supervise adherence to the health and safety procedures of GIS to ensure compliance. 
• Supporting the external ECA’s  

Internal Extra Curricular Activities:

• Onsite ECA Programs - Oversee onsite extracurricular activities to provide qualitative programs that respond to the needs of GIS parents, students, and the community.  Work with ECA coordinators.
• Offsite ECA Programs -Maintain a record of activities taking place that are supervised by GIS staff. Including GEMS sponsored activities. 
• Mother Tongue Programs- Meet with outside providers to offer language classes to the GIS community 
• My Health Program/community well-being- Manage and maintain the GIS My Health program including internal and external events. Lead on Dubai 30x30 Health challenge 

Promotion/Marketing And Communication:

• Organize and execute marketing and communication of the athletics and ECA program to attract potential families and to promote and maintain the competitive quality of GIS.
• Organize parent contact and information to ensure they are timely and correctly informed of events, progress, problems, and other issues.
• Raise visibility and encourage participation in community events.
• Highlight elite athletes and their accomplishments 

Data And Reporting:

• Maintain records of attendance, activities on offer, and interest to inform future planning and growth (what is popular)
• Present data on the participation of ECA and analyze trends
• Maintain stats on squads and individual athletes
• Provide termly data to ELT as part of termly review 
• Advise school leadership on opportunities and offerings on a short-term and long-term basis
