Hobby School hires a full-time Primary School ELA/Social Studies Teacher (Grades 1-5, ages 6-10).
The role involves working with students at varying levels of English proficiency, from non-speakers (Grade 1) to more advanced learners (Grades 2-5).
Responsibilities include lesson planning, assigning and checking homework, and collaborating with international and local teachers within the IPC curriculum.
The school values teamwork, creativity, and passion and encourages teachers to lead extracurricular activities like clubs, English Olympiads, and various festivals.
Founded in 1994, Hobby School is the first private school in Mongolia, established to educate the next generation of Mongolian intelligentsia during a time of tough economic conditions, a rapidly growing urban population, and a declining public education system. With 30 years of experience in the field, Hobby School continues to be a leading institution in the country.
The school's name, while evoking leisure, carries deep significance. It was inspired by the Eurasian Hobby (Falco Subbuteo), a falcon species revered by Mongolians as a symbol of courage and vigor.
In the 2024-2025 academic year, Hobby School serves approximately 1,200 students, from grades 1 to 12 (ages 6 to 17). Today, the school is widely regarded as one of Mongolia's top secondary education institutions.
Our Mission and Vision
Guided by the vision of our founder, Dr. Oyuntsetseg, Hobby School is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of Mongolian intelligentsia. To ensure accessibility for families from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, the school maintains tuition fees at levels far below its peer institutions.
Curriculum Highlights
Hobby School offers a bilingual curriculum, combining the State-approved General Secondary Education Curriculum of Mongolia with immersion-based English instruction.
Firsts in Mongolia:
- Introduced the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC).
- Adopted AP courses into its curriculum.
Future Plans: The school is preparing to introduce the Cambridge Curriculum.
This bilingual and immersive approach adds an extra academic workload for students, preparing them for global opportunities.
Recognition
In November 2024, Hobby School was honored as a 'Great Place to Work,' a testament to its commitment to excellence and a positive educational environment.
