Qualifications:
- For secondary ELA and primary international homeroom teachers: Must hold a passport from the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada
- For all other teaching positions: Open to persons of any nationality
- Four-year degree from an accredited university
- Bachelor of Education, PGCE or higher
- Teaching license: QTS, national/state teaching license/certificate or equivalent
- Master’s degree, preferably in education or the subject the teacher instructs
- Five years of experience teaching

Overview:
The Literacy Coach will provide instructional support and coaching to teachers as they work to ensure our students, who are English Language Learners, reach their academic potential. The Literacy Coach’s primary role is to work with teachers to support best practices, including explicit English language development instruction and effective instruction techniques for ELLs, in using data, provide analysis of school-wide trends in instruction, and make recommendations about potential next steps to address areas of need.

Primary Duties: This list represents the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required
- Work with the Head of School to design a continuous improvement cycle to update the literacy curriculum.
- Provide teachers with professional development; in-class consultation - assistance, feedback, and modeling through a structured and well-scheduled program.
- Develop and model relevant and varied instructional approaches, including the integration of ELL teaching strategies, and a variety of assessment methods.
- Work with teachers in Professional Learning Communities to plan units and lessons, use assessments of student work, and other data to analyze current practices and identify area/s for improvement.
- Give presentations, facilitate professional development sessions, and work in classrooms with teachers and students.
- Demonstrate evidence of their continuing professional development and be willing to participate in specified coach training.
