The instructor has to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential; and is expected to work together with the school’s educational leadership to lead, manage and develop the Math/Science department to ensure it achieves the highest possible standards of excellence in all its activities.
Duties include:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning, and are aligned to CCSS for Math, English, and Social Studies and NGSS for Science.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests that are by established procedures.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Assess and record student development, while identifying problem areas and areas that need attention and improvement.
- Provide appropriate feedback on work.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of student's progress and development.
- Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by ministry and school regulations.
- Prepare required reports on students and activities.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Prepare the classroom for class activities.
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
- Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
- Maintain discipline by the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
- Participate in department, school, and parent meetings.
- Use relevant technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
- Keep up to date with and respond to global developments in the subject area and teaching practice and methodology.
