Kindergarten Homeroom Teacher (KG1 and KG2)
North American International School is looking for an enthusiastic kindergarten teacher to foster and facilitate the intellectual and social development of the children (4 and 5 years of age) and join our excellent team. NAIS is a small American curriculum school with an emphasis on relationships and inclusion. As such, class sizes at the KG1 and KG2 levels are capped at 15 students per class with a teacher assistant assigned to each homeroom.
Teaching in kindergarten includes planning, implementing, and assessing lessons. The successful candidate must be able to teach children with patience and creativity. Teaching duties include designing and implementing data-driven activities that motivate young children, delivering instruction to students who have limited English, and being able to align classroom activities to the California State Standards. Prior experience teaching students from varied cultural backgrounds and the ability to create lessons that adapt to various levels of learning within the classroom is required.
Kindergarten Teacher Responsibilities:
- Designing, developing, and delivering quality lesson plans and curricula that adhere to national and school guidelines.
- Subject area responsibilities include: Mathematics, English, Science, Social Studies, PSED, Art, Music, Creative Play, Guided Reading, Small Group
- Organize learning materials and resources.
- Creating suitable formative assessments and delivering helpful feedback to students, parents, and other teachers. Assess students' performance and progress to ensure they are mastering the skills regularly.
- Establishing classroom routines and activities that ensure student engagement and comprehension.
- Providing extra resources, support, and interventions for students who are struggling to achieve benchmarks standards.
- Managing student performance data and other administrative tasks.
- Creating an inquiry-based learning environment.
- Regularly communicating with parents.
- Using a variety of activities and instructional methods (songs, stories, media, structured games, art, outdoor activities, etc.) to engage all learners.
- Monitor children’s interactions and nurture cooperation and sharing.
- Work collaboratively with other grade-level teachers.
