Can you tell me more about the Robertson Center for Intercultural Leadership?
Of course! The Robertson Center for Intercultural Leadership (CIL) at International House Berkeley is renowned for being a global leader in teaching, coaching, and collaborating across cultures.
CIL consultants are highly skilled in creating exceptional workshops and programs, such as their TEFL course, that promote understanding, inclusivity, and belonging on a global scale. Beyond the education sector, they also delve into the public, non-profit, government, and corporate sectors—and beyond!
By pairing CIL’s work in cultural understanding and cooperation with the academic excellence of International House Berkeley, the Robertson Center for Intercultural Leadership is able to create a TEFL course that goes far beyond simply teaching the basics of teaching English abroad.
Who can enroll in this TEFL course?
If you’re a university graduate or soon to be one, you are invited to enroll in International House Berkeley’s TEFL course. From first-time teachers to experienced educators, their course is designed to provide valuable educational information and skills to all levels of ESL instructors.
So, whether you’re looking to enhance your well-seasoned teaching abilities or need to build a skillset from scratch, International House is offering a TEFL course that can do it all.
Do I need to complete any in-person work?
Nope! This TEFL course is 100% online and self-paced.
Unlike other TEFL programs, which may require in-person practicums or face-to-face testing with your teacher, this course can be completed at home—or from anywhere in the world! All you need is a stable Wi-Fi connection and you’re ready to learn the complete skills that one needs to teach abroad.
How long does it take to get certified?
To earn International House Berkeley’s TEFL certificate, you must complete 120 hours of online work. Many students opt to finish the course in a span of 6 to 12 weeks.
However, as we mentioned above, you set the pace for this course. If you feel like completing the program in more or less time, that’s totally cool! Just be aware that you do have to complete the course within one year.
Of course, by completing the program in a timely manner, you’re also more likely to be able to apply the information learned in earlier modules. So, we do recommend that you avoid taking extended breaks during this course.
How much does it cost to enroll?
It costs $1,095 USD to enroll in International House Berkeley’s TEFL certificate. To accommodate payments in any currency, prospective students must pay by credit card or PayPal.
But I’ve seen TEFL courses online for much less!
As a general rule of thumb, if you’re looking for a quality TEFL course, you’re looking for something around or above the $1,000 USD mark.
It’s the old adage “you get what you pay for” at play. If a program is listed for a bargain price, there’s a good chance it’s not being offered by a reputable institution or it spans less than 100 hours. This includes courses that are super cheap or this that are being offered at steeply discounted rates such as 70% off. Remember, you’re shopping for an education, not a pair of shoes!
The TEFL course by International House Berkeley is 120 hours in length and it’s offered by one of the world’s most prestigious universities. So, when you think about it, paying $1,095 USD to enroll in this elite course is the real bargain!
